How PickedBox started
PickedBox was started in 2017 by Mert Gurdal, a Turkish entrepreneur. He built it for shoppers in the United States, and the site still lists US online stores.
In its first year, PickedBox was a product review site. Mert wrote the reviews alone. Some of those older posts are still on the blog, next to newer posts about store sales and discount programs.
From reviews to promo codes
After that first year, the site turned to promo codes and deals for US stores.
Each store page now shows its codes and deals with the date they were last tried at checkout and what happened. Codes that stopped working stay on the page, marked expired, with the last date they worked. The full method is on How we verify coupons.
What he does now
Mert owns PickedBox and runs it. The codes themselves are checked by the PickedBox Team, and every store page names the team and the date of the last check.
The site was rebuilt in October 2026. It covers more than 2,500 US stores in 22 categories. When you buy after clicking a store link, the store pays PickedBox a commission; that commission does not decide which codes are listed or the order they appear in.
