How we verify coupons

We open the store, fill a cart with a full-price item, apply the code and record what the checkout says. Dates and results stay on the page, including the codes that stopped working.

PickedBox Team·Promo codes checked at checkout by the PickedBox Team since 2017.

The checkout test, step by step

Every code on every store page goes through the same four steps.

  1. Open the store, fill a cart

A full-price item goes into the cart at the store’s own site, in a fresh session, as a guest or as a member when the offer needs one.

  2. Apply the code at checkout

The code goes into the promo field at checkout, not on a cart page or in a coupon tool. We read what the store says back: applied, not valid, expired, excluded.

  3. Record the result and the date

The result and the date of the test go on the store page, next to the offer.

  4. Keep the history

When a code stops working it is not deleted. It moves to the expired list with the last date it worked, so the page shows what changed and when.

What the labels mean

The same words on every store page.

Worked

The code applied at checkout on the date shown and the discount line matched the offer. The row reads “Worked” with the date of the test, and “listed since” with the month the code was first listed. The action is “Show code”.

Expired code

The code returned not valid or promotion ended at checkout. The row reads “Expired code · worked until” with the last date it worked, the discount is shown with “Was” in front, and the action says “Show expired code” so you know what you are opening.

Reported on Reddit or a forum

A code someone posted online. The row reads “Reported on” with the source and the date of the post, then the result: “tested, worked”, “tested, failed” or “not tested yet”. A failed one reads “Show code (failed)”. A forum post is a claim, not a result, until it is tested.

No code

Some stores do not issue codes. The store page opens with “No working code right now”, the date of the last check, and how people actually pay less instead. Codes shared on social media for such stores are tested too.

Deal

A price that needs no code: a sale section, free shipping, a member price. The row reads “Deal” with the date we saw it work, and the action is “Get deal”.

How often codes are re-tested

Codes on a page are re-tested when a reader reports one or when the store’s sale calendar changes; the date on each row is the last test.

Between tests nothing changes on the page: a code that worked on the date shown says so until the next test says otherwise. The top of each store page reads “Last verified” with the date of the latest check, and the block at the bottom reads “Checked for” the store “by the PickedBox Team on” that same date. We do not print the current date as a freshness claim.

Who tests these codes

PickedBox Team

The PickedBox Team checks the codes for more than 2,500 US stores. PickedBox has been online since 2017 and is run by its founder, Mert Gurdal.

Best offer first: the highest discount that worked on the latest test. Commission does not affect the order; how we make money and who we are are on the About page.

Report a dead code

If a code marked as worked did not work for you, tell us the store, the date and what the checkout said. We re-test it and update the page.

Before you write: most failed codes are excluded items, one use per account or a member-only price. The terms under each offer list the common exclusions.
