Humonians NFT collection: what it was and what happened to it
Humonians was a small NFT collection of cartoon characters that appeared around March 2022 and was promoted on X with a link to OpenSea. By October 2026 its OpenSea collection page no longer loads and NFT trackers show no trading volume, so there is no active market for it.

What the Humonians collection was
Humonians were cartoon character NFTs, each built from layered traits: a background, skin color, eyes, hair, mouth and sweatshirt. The project's X account, @humonians, still describes them as different looking characters whose main point is that they live together although they look different, and it sends readers to OpenSea.
The collection surfaced in early March 2022. A Reddit community, r/Humonians_NFT, was created on Mar 5, 2022, the same day PickedBox first published a trait rarity table for the set. That was near the top of the 2021 to 2022 NFT boom, when thousands of small profile picture collections launched each month with a similar format: a few thousand or fewer randomly generated characters, a rarity chart and a social media account.
No roadmap, team page, total supply or mint price for Humonians could be found from an official source at the time of checking in October 2026.
The Humonians trait rarity figures from 2022
The 2022 table split each trait into options with an approximate share of the collection. These were reference figures at the time, not checked against the blockchain. The rarest and most common option in each category:
| Trait | Rarest option | Share | Most common option | Share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hair | Cool Shadow, FunnyNBrown | 0.076% each | Black Classic, White, Yellow and others | 7.6% each |
| Mouth | Hot Vampire, Mouthless, Sad | 1.1% each | Big Smile, Happy, Grinning and others | 5.5% each |
| Eyes | Double Color | 1.2% | Misty, Ordinary, Sneaky, Suspicious | 18% each |
| Background | Black, Crystal Red, Hypnotic and 5 others | 2.4% each | Blue, Light Blue, Purple, Rectangles, Yellow | 7.3% each |
| Sweatshirt | Navajo White, Pale Goldenrod | 2.4% each | Aqua, Dark Cyan, DimGray, Orange, Purple | 9.8% each |
| Skin | Red | 3.7% | Sandy Brown | 37% |
In a working market, rarer traits tend to list at higher prices. Rarity on its own does not create a price, though. A trait that appears on 0.076% of items is only worth something if someone is willing to buy it, and for Humonians no recent buyers could be found.

What happened to Humonians
At the time of checking (Oct 18, 2026):
- The OpenSea address opensea.io/collection/humonians returned a page not found error, as did several spelling variants. Large collections loaded normally on OpenSea the same day.
- PlayToEarn, an NFT and game tracker, still has a Humonians page, showing $0 in 24-hour volume and a $0 market cap. The site notes that data for older NFT projects is not being updated, so this is a stale record, not a live price.
- The r/Humonians_NFT subreddit was shown as restricted, with one member, in search results.
- The @humonians X profile still carries its original description. No recent announcement could be read, since X pages do not load without an account.
Taken together, the collection appears inactive. No sale records, marketplace listings or price history could be confirmed. An NFT stays on its blockchain after a marketplace page goes away, so a holder may still see the item in a wallet, but a token in a wallet is not the same as a token someone will buy.
Not the same as The Humanians
Searches for Humonians often return The Humanians, a different Ethereum collection of 5,800 characters by the artist behind VISBII, tied to awareness of body dysmorphia. That collection still has an OpenSea page. On Oct 18, 2026 it showed a floor price of about 0.0026 ETH, with a holder count note dated March 8, 2023, and no recent trading volume. The two projects are not related, and a Humonians item cannot be sold as a Humanian.
Where small NFT collections ended up
Humonians is a typical case. A September 2023 report from the gambling research site dappGambl, covered by The Register, looked at 73,257 NFT collections and found that 69,795 of them, about 95%, had a market cap of zero ETH. The same report found that 79% of collections had never fully sold out. Collections launched during the 2022 peak, with small followings and no ongoing project, were the most likely to end up there.
The general NFT market also shrank after early 2022, and OpenSea and other marketplaces remove or hide collection pages that have no activity or that break their rules. A missing page does not by itself mean the project was a scam. It does mean there is no easy place to sell.

If you hold a Humonian
- Check the wallet that bought it. The token should still be visible in a wallet app or on a blockchain explorer such as Etherscan or Polygonscan, depending on the chain it was minted on.
- Treat any message offering to revive, buy back or upgrade Humonians with caution, especially if it asks you to connect a wallet or sign a transaction. Old collections are common targets for wallet drainer scams.
- Keep the purchase record. In the US, the IRS treats NFTs as digital assets, and a loss or a sale may need to be reported. A tax professional can say how this applies to a specific return.
This article describes the collection's status. It is not investment advice, and PickedBox does not recommend buying or selling any NFT.
How we checked this
On Oct 18, 2026, PickedBox tried the OpenSea collection address for Humonians and several spelling variants, read the PlayToEarn Humonians page as shown in search results, the @humonians X profile description and the r/Humonians_NFT subreddit listing in search results, and The Humanians page on OpenSea. Reddit and X block automated access, so their details come from search result snippets. Trait figures come from the 2022 PickedBox table. Market figures come from The Register's September 2023 report on the dappGambl study. No NFT was bought or sold for this article.
