What the Tomons swing arm lamp is

Tomons sold a Scandinavian-style desk lamp with light wood arms, a metal shade and base, and an exposed braided cable. The arms adjust at three joints. The Amazon listing used for the 2020 version of this page gave these specs:

Several Tomons wood lamps existed under model numbers such as DL1002 and DL1005. A 2017 TechWalls review of the DL1002 says it ships without a bulb and takes a standard E26 bulb, with the maker recommending a 4 W to 6 W LED. Tools and Toys describes the DL1005 as coming with a 4 W LED bulb and a wooden swing arm, in white or gray.

Is the Tomons desk lamp still sold in 2026

The answer could not be settled at the time of checking (Oct 18, 2026):

• Amazon. Amazon pages, including the old listing, returned a bot check, so no current price or stock status could be read.
• Tomons' own store. tomons.com forwards to tomons.de, a German shop run by F & M Technology GmbH in Leipzig. It has a desk lamp menu, but its product feed listed no desk lamps, only one LED floor lamp at €69.99 against a crossed-out €138.99, plus spare parts.
• Last published U.S. prices. A 2016 post on The Frugal Girl gave $36.99 on Amazon, and Tools and Toys gave $40 for the DL1005, with no date shown.

Treat any Tomons wood lamp listed in 2026 as possibly old stock or a reseller listing, and check who ships it and what return window applies.

Similar arm lamps for less at IKEA

IKEA's U.S. desk lamp range has several adjustable lamps with a similar classic shape. Prices and specs from ikea.com on Oct 18, 2026:

IKEA's matching SOLHETTA LED bulbs listed at $5.99 for a 2-pack of 800-lumen E26 bulbs, $5.99 for one 550-lumen E17 reflector bulb and $3.99 for a 2-pack of 250-lumen E12 bulbs. The SJÖMAKT is the closest match in look, with wood and metal at about the same height as the Tomons. The TERTIAL is the cheapest way to get a true jointed arm.

What to check on a cheap swing arm lamp

• Bulb socket. E26 bulbs are the easiest to find and replace. E12 and E17 sockets limit brightness and bulb choice.
• Brightness. Look at the bulb's lumen figure, not the lamp. An 800-lumen bulb gives far more desk light than a 250-lumen one.
• Joint hardware. Wood arms are held with screws or knobs at each joint. The 2017 TechWalls review noted the screws on the DL1002 could loosen over time, so a lamp with tightening knobs is easier to keep in position.
• Base weight and cord. A heavier base keeps a long arm from tipping. Check cord length if the outlet sits behind the desk.

• You want the Tomons look of wood and metal: the SJÖMAKT at $49.99 plus a bulb, or a Tomons lamp if a seller with a clear return policy still has one.
• You need a long reach over a wide desk or a drawing board: the TERTIAL at $19.99, which can clamp to the desk edge and leaves the surface free.
• You read at a side table or a small desk: the FORSÅ at $39.99 or the SKURUP at $29.99, both compact steel lamps with an adjustable head.

Add the bulb to the price before comparing. Every lamp in the table ships without one, so a $19.99 lamp with an 800-lumen bulb from the 2-pack costs about $26 in total.

Where these lamps cost less

IKEA's small online orders can carry a delivery fee, so a $19.99 lamp may cost noticeably more shipped. Picking up in store avoids that. For lamps sold on Amazon, discounts usually show up as a clip-on coupon on the product page or during Prime Day, Prime Big Deal Days and Black Friday week.
