Is the ProMonitor 800 still made?

No. On Oct 18, 2026, the ProMonitor 800 page on the Definitive Technology site is filed under Archived, with an Upgrade to Latest Version banner that points to the ProMonitor 1000. The page offers only an email alert for stock, and no add-to-cart button. The last price shown is $169 per speaker, in black or white.

Some retailers kept listings up after production ended. Adorama, for example, showed a new ProMonitor 800 at $169 as a special order earlier in 2026, with an estimated ship date of April 15, 2026. A special-order listing does not mean stock exists, so ask the store before paying.

Buying a used ProMonitor 800

The ProMonitor 800 is easy to find used on eBay and local listings, often as part of a ProCinema 800 surround set. Two points matter before buying:

• Warranty: Definitive gives passive speakers a five-year warranty, and the ProMonitor 1000 page states it covers the original purchaser only. A used pair should be treated as having no warranty.
• Condition: ask the seller to show both drivers and the top bass radiator, since a torn surround or pushed-in tweeter dome changes the sound. Check that both speakers are the same color and version.

A used pair makes sense if it costs well under the price of a new compact pair from Polk, listed below. Otherwise the new speaker with a warranty is the safer buy.

2. Buy direct when it helps. Definitive's site lists free shipping, 30-day returns and price matching, and has Sale and Outlet sections.
3. Watch the November sales. The ProMonitor 1000 dropped about 28% at Best Buy in November 2025.
4. Check store codes before checkout on the Best Buy coupon page and the Amazon coupon page. Many brand speakers are excluded from store codes, so read the terms.
5. Pair small speakers with a subwoofer you already own, rather than paying more for bigger speakers.

Who should still look for a ProMonitor 800

The ProMonitor 800 is worth hunting for if you already own a ProCinema 800 or other Definitive setup and want matching surrounds, or if you need a very small speaker for a wall or ceiling height channel. For a new stereo pair on a desk or shelf, a current compact pair with a full warranty costs less and is easier to buy.
