Does Wayfair have a first-time buyer discount? How it works in 2026

The short answer: a sign-up offer, not a standing code

Wayfair does not print a permanent first-order code on its home page. The new-customer discount comes through its email and text sign-up box, which appears on wayfair.com and in the app for shoppers who are not signed in.

The offer that has run in the US is 10% off a first qualifying order. That is the same offer described on the PickedBox Wayfair coupon page. The exact wording can change, so read the sign-up box on the day you shop before entering your details.

How the Wayfair email and text offer works

Wayfair's own terms page could not be loaded for this guide, so the details below come from deal trackers that published them in 2026. DealNews described the offer this way:

• Size: 10% off a first qualifying order.
• Cap: savings up to $150, which is reached on an order of about $1,500.
• Expiry: the code expires 7 days after it is issued.
• Exclusions: some items and brands do not qualify.

Two practical points follow from this. First, sign up only when your cart is close to final, because a 7-day clock starts when the code arrives. Second, on a large furniture order the $150 cap matters. A $2,500 sectional would get $150 off, not $250.

Text sign-up has been reported to carry a similar 10% first-order offer. It is usually one offer per new customer, so signing up with both channels should not be expected to give two discounts.

Wayfair app offers

Wayfair also runs offers that work only in its app. At the time of checking (Oct 13, 2026), the PickedBox Wayfair page listed two app-only codes, one for 20% off qualifying purchases and one for an extra 10% off select furniture and decor. Both apply to qualifying items only, and the 10% offer may cover just part of a cart.

These are not tied to a first order, so a new customer who downloads the app may see them alongside the sign-up offer. Wayfair normally allows one promo code per order, so compare the two and use whichever takes more off your cart.

Wayfair Professional for business buyers

If you are buying for a business, such as a rental property, an office, a design client or a restaurant, Wayfair Professional is a separate route. The program's FAQ on Wayfair's sister site Joss & Main states that joining is free, that Wayfair verifies the applicant as a business first, and that there is no minimum order or spending threshold.

• Accepted documents: a business license or permit, a state tax exemption, or a membership document.
• Discount: up to 15% off thousands of items, plus an extra 10% off AllModern, Joss & Main and Birch Lane, according to the same FAQ. The amount varies by product and current promotions.

Wayfair Rewards and Wayfair Professional cannot be used on the same account, according to a 2026 breakdown of both programs. A homeowner shopping for personal use should not sign up as a business to get the discount.

Other ways to pay less on a first Wayfair order

• Free shipping threshold: standard shipping is free on most orders over $35. Large items, some locations and upgraded delivery cost extra.
• Wayfair Rewards: a paid membership at $29 a year with 5% back in reward dollars and free shipping on every eligible order. At 5%, the fee pays for itself at about $580 a year in spending. Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, PO boxes and military addresses are excluded from the shipping benefit.
• Open box: items returned once and resold at a discount. Deal listings in 2026 described open box prices at up to 70% off. Third-party return guides report that open box items are generally not returnable unless damaged or defective, so check the product page before buying.
• Closeout: the closeout section shows marked-down prices of up to 80% off on furniture and decor, with no code needed.

When Wayfair runs its biggest sales

Timing can matter more than a sign-up code on big furniture purchases.

In recent years Wayfair has also held a fall Way Day in late October. At the time of checking (Oct 18, 2026), no official date for a fall 2026 event had been announced, so treat any reported date as a prediction. The April 2026 dates come from Wayfair's press release.

A first-order code may not stack with sale pricing, and event exclusions are common. If a large item is on sale during Way Day, compare the sale price with the regular price minus 10% before deciding which to use.

Returns and comparing prices before you buy

Most Wayfair items can be returned within 30 days of delivery, but return shipping is usually charged to the buyer. Clearance items, personalized items, gift cards and products marked non-returnable are final sale. On a bulky item, return shipping can wipe out the value of a 10% discount, so check the return line on the product page first.
