Honor 10 in 2026: should you still buy it used, and for how much

The Honor 10 is a 2018 Android phone that never had a US carrier launch, stopped getting security patches around early 2021 and lacks several LTE bands that US networks rely on. A used one only makes sense as a cheap spare or Wi-Fi device; as a daily phone in October 2026, a new budget model with years of updates is the safer buy.

What the Honor 10 was

Honor, then a Huawei sub-brand, announced the Honor 10 in May 2018. GSMArena's spec page lists a launch price of about 310 euros and marks the phone as discontinued. Honor was sold off by Huawei in late 2020 and now runs as a separate company, but that came after this model's main life cycle.

The published specifications:

  • 5.84-inch IPS LCD, 1080 x 2280 pixels, 19:9, about 432 ppi.
  • Kirin 970 chip with 4, 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage, no memory card slot.
  • Rear dual camera: 16 MP color plus 24 MP black-and-white. 24 MP front camera.
  • 3,400 mAh battery, 22.5 W charging over USB-C, plus a 3.5 mm headphone jack, NFC and an infrared port.
  • Fingerprint reader under the front glass below the screen, not inside the display.
  • Shipped with Android 8.1, upgradable to Android 10 with EMUI 10.

Because it launched before the 2019 US trade restrictions on Huawei, the phone shipped with Google Play services, so the Play Store is present on international models.

Software and security updates have ended

The Honor 10 received its last major Android version, Android 10 with EMUI 10, in early 2020, as Notebookcheck reported at the time. The most recent update PickedBox could find is a Magic UI 3.1 build carrying the December 2020 security patch, reported by Huawei Central. Honor has not published a formal end-of-support notice that PickedBox could find, but nothing newer has been reported.

That means close to six years without security fixes. In practice:

  • Known Android vulnerabilities found since 2021 are not patched on this phone.
  • Banking, payment and work apps can raise their minimum Android version at any time, and some already require newer versions than Android 10.
  • App updates from the Play Store may stop for individual apps as developers drop older Android versions.

For a phone that holds email, banking or two-factor codes, that is the main reason not to use it as a primary device.

Will it work on US networks

Partly, and not reliably. The Honor 10 was never sold through AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon. The copies in the US are imported international models, usually COL-L29.

GSMArena lists these 4G LTE bands: 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 19, 20, 38, 40 and 41. Missing are bands 2, 4, 12, 13, 66 and 71, which US carriers use heavily for coverage, especially indoors and in rural areas. There is no 5G.

The 3G fallback the phone supports no longer exists in the US: the three large carriers switched off their 3G networks during 2022. Calls now need VoLTE, and carriers generally only enable it on devices they have approved. Before buying one for a US line, enter the phone's IMEI in your carrier's device compatibility checker. Expect data on some bands at best, and possibly no voice calls.

Fact board of Honor 10 network support: LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 19, 20, 38, 40 and 41; missing US bands 2, 4, 12, 13, 66 and 71; no 5G; US 3G shut off in 2022.

What a used Honor 10 is worth in 2026

There is no steady US used market to point to. At the time of checking (Oct 18, 2026), eBay US returned an access error, and search results showed mostly European listings:

  • eBay Germany: a used COL-L29 at an asking price of 79 euros, and a used Phantom Green unit with bids starting around 28 pounds and a buy-it-now near 47 pounds. Neither seller shipped to the US.
  • A UK seller on eBay France: a used 128 GB unit at 55 pounds.
  • Back Market Germany: a refurbished 64 GB unit at 140 euros. The listing date was not shown.
  • A US electronics reseller listing new old stock at $219.99.

These are asking prices, not sold prices. A practical ceiling follows from the alternatives below: new budget phones with current software and several years of promised updates sell for about $250 to $300 in the US. Against that, a used Honor 10 is hard to justify above roughly $40 to $60, and only for use as a spare, a music player, a Wi-Fi camera or a test device. The $219.99 new-old-stock price is well above what the phone is worth for those uses.

What to check before buying one used

  • Model number. Ask for the COL code from Settings. COL-L29 is the international dual-SIM version. COL-AL10 and COL-TL10 are Chinese models and may not include Google Play services.
  • Battery health. A 2018 battery has likely lost a good share of its capacity. Ask how long it lasts on a full charge, and price in a replacement.
  • Software version. Ask for a screenshot of the Android version and security patch level.
  • Account locks. Confirm the seller has signed out of their Google and Huawei or Honor accounts, or the phone may stay locked after a reset.
  • Carrier fit. Run the IMEI through your carrier's checker before paying.
  • Return terms. eBay sellers choose their own return policy. Prefer listings with at least 30 days, or covered refurbished listings.

Cheaper, safer phones to buy instead

For a daily phone on a US network, current budget models cost more up front but come with support. Prices below are from press coverage, since several US phone prices rose during 2026.

A refurbished phone from the last two or three years is the middle path: it still gets security updates, works on US bands, and often costs less than a new budget model.

Bar chart of phone prices: Honor 10 new old stock $219.99, Moto G Play (2026) $249.99, Samsung Galaxy A17 5G $269.99, Moto G 5G (2026) $299.99.

Where used and refurbished phones cost less

  • eBay Refurbished sells inspected phones in graded conditions with a stated warranty, and eBay runs a Best Price Guarantee on qualifying items. See current offers on the eBay coupon page.
  • Amazon sells renewed phones alongside new budget models. See the Amazon coupon page.
  • Best Buy carries carrier-ready budget phones and open-box units. See the Best Buy coupon page.

Who the Honor 10 is for: someone who wants a cheap second device for music, photos over Wi-Fi or app testing, finds a clean COL-L29 for well under $60, and never signs into banking apps on it. Everyone else is better served by a phone that still receives security updates.

How we checked this

In October 2026, PickedBox read the Honor 10 specification and network band list on GSMArena, and update history from Notebookcheck and Huawei Central. Honor's former global Honor 10 page returned a not-found error. eBay US returned an access error, so used prices come from eBay Germany, eBay France and Back Market listings seen in search results on Oct 18, 2026. Alternative phone prices come from PhoneArena and Digital Trends coverage. No phones were bought or used for this guide.
