The 10 gadgets and what each costs

The table gives the regular price and, where one was published, the lowest recent sale price with its date. A fair target is usually near the sale figure, not the list price.

Prices marked October 2026 were read from the brand's own store on Oct 18, 2026. The others come from dated deal reports linked below. Nothing on this list was used or handled for this guide; the details come from the makers' pages and press coverage.

Kindle Paperwhite and AirTag 2: the everyday pair

Kindle Paperwhite (2026), $199.99. Amazon announced a redesigned Kindle, Paperwhite and Colorsoft on Oct 1, 2026, and the Paperwhite opened for preorder at $199.99, TechRepublic reported. The Signature Edition is $249.99. That price follows an August 2026 increase that moved the Paperwhite from $159.99 to $199.99, so older deal posts at $124.99 refer to the previous model. If the price matters more than the new design, a leftover previous-generation Paperwhite is the one to watch for in Black Friday listings.

Apple AirTag 2, $29 or $99 for a 4-pack. Apple's second AirTag keeps the same prices as the first. Its newer Ultra Wideband chip lets Precision Finding work up to 50% farther away, according to the coverage of the launch. MacRumors reported the 4-pack at $79.99 on Amazon in late August 2026, about $20 a tag, which is the price to wait for. AirTag works with iPhone; Android owners need a different tracker.

Home gadgets: Blink Mini 2, August lock and Petcube

Blink Mini 2, $39.99. Amazon's small indoor camera. It replaces the face-recognition camera from the 2021 version of this list, which cost several times more. A Security.org deal guide gives the $39.99 list price, and Amazon sale events have taken it to $19.99. Recording clips to the cloud needs a Blink subscription, so count that cost before buying several.

August Wi-Fi Smart Lock, $199.99. It fits over the inside of an existing deadbolt, so the outside key still works. August's store listed it at $199.99 on Oct 18, 2026, with a keypad bundle at $229.99. The cheaper Yale Approach Lock with Wi-Fi was $139.99 on the same site, which is worth comparing.

Petcube Bites 2 Lite, $99.99. A pet camera that tosses treats from your phone. Petcube's page showed $99.99 against $149.99 in October 2026, with 1080p video, a 160-degree lens and two-way audio. Video history and alerts need Petcube Care, which starts at $5.99 a month. Petcube also offers the camera free with a $9.99-a-month Care plan, so compare the yearly cost of each route.

Sound and photos: JBL Xtreme 4 and instax mini Link 3

JBL Xtreme 4, $379.95 list. The large portable Bluetooth speaker that replaced the Xtreme 3 from the 2021 list. Its list price is $379.95, and retailers often sell it for less: PhoneArena reported it at $279.95 at Walmart, and TechRadar reported $249.95 at Amazon during an early Prime Day sale. At full price it is hard to justify; at under $300 it is a fair buy for a backyard or a beach.

Fujifilm instax mini Link 3, about $100. A pocket printer that turns phone photos into credit-card-size prints. TechRadar's review gives a US launch price of $99.95 and puts film at around $20 for 20 prints, about $1 a print. That running cost matters more than the printer price for anyone who prints often. A current Fujifilm US store price could not be confirmed in October 2026.

Comfort gadgets: Philips wake-up light, Theragun Relief and Ember Mug 2

Philips SmartSleep Wake-up Light (HF3520), about $76 on sale. A lamp that brightens slowly before your alarm. Slickdeals posted it at $76.29 on Amazon on Mar 22, 2026, the same price as in December 2025, against a list price near $109. It is a lamp and an alarm, not a treatment for sleep problems; for those, a doctor is the right first stop.

Theragun Relief, $159.99. The handheld massager on this list in place of the generic neck massager from 2021. Therabody's store listed the Relief at $159.99 and a refurbished Relief at $129 on Oct 18, 2026. The smaller Theragun Mini was $229.99. Refurbished units are the cheapest way into the brand if the warranty terms suit you.

Ember Mug 2, $89.99. A heated mug that holds a drink at a set temperature. Ember's store showed the 10 oz Mug 2 at $89.99 against $129.95 in October 2026, and the 14 oz at $99.99. The newer Ember Mug 3 was $129.95, so the older model is the value pick while the discount lasts.

What changed since the 2021 list

Four items from the 2021 version of this page are gone. The Vector robot came from Anki, which shut down in 2019; Digital Dream Labs took over the product, but no official 2026 product page or US price could be confirmed. Moov Now hardware was discontinued around 2022, according to company records summarized by Dealroom. The neck massager was a generic listing, and the novelty lightsaber umbrella was dropped because no current maker page was found. The Netatmo camera gave way to the cheaper Blink Mini 2.

The other five slots were updated to current models: the Xtreme 3 became the Xtreme 4, the instax mini Link became the Link 3, the Petcube Bites 2 became the Bites 2 Lite, and the August lock and Philips wake-up light stay in their current versions. This page now replaces the old ten-page slideshow; every item is on one page.

How to pay less for gadgets on Amazon

Most of these gadgets are sold on Amazon, and Amazon makes several of them. These habits keep the price down.

1. Time it. Prime Big Deal Days ran October 6-7, 2026. Black Friday week comes next; in 2025 it ran from November 20 to Cyber Monday, December 1. Amazon's own devices, such as Kindle and Blink, are often discounted in these events.
2. Clip the coupon. Many listings show a clip-on coupon below the price. Clip it before adding the item to your cart.
3. Check Amazon Resale. Used and open-box items sell for less, which suits gadgets such as speakers and cameras.
4. Use the return window. Most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery in original or unused condition.
5. Pay less for Prime. Prime for Young Adults is $7.49 a month for ages 18-24 and students, and Prime Access is $6.99 for eligible assistance recipients.

When Best Buy is the better store

Best Buy sells speakers, smart locks and cameras like the ones here, and two of its rules help on gadgets. Its price match covers an identical item from a qualified competitor, at purchase or during the return period, which protects you if Amazon drops the price a week later. Its Outlet sells open-box and refurbished items, and Best Buy's October 2026 Outlet Event advertised up to 60% off select open-box products. The return window is shorter than Amazon's: 15 days for most products, or 60 days for My Best Buy Plus and Total members. See the Best Buy store page for its current deals.
