JBL Boombox 3 in 2026: price, when JBL discounts it and refurb options

Is the JBL Boombox 3 still sold

Not by JBL in the US. At the time of checking (Oct 18, 2026), the Boombox 3 product address on jbl.com returned an error page, and the Boombox line on the site showed only the JBL Boombox 4. European retailer LDLC also marks the Boombox 3 as no longer on sale. JBL has not published a formal discontinuation notice that PickedBox could find.

New Boombox 3 units still turn up at large retailers and marketplace sellers as remaining stock. Before buying one new, check that the seller is an authorized JBL dealer, because JBL's warranty terms depend on where the speaker was bought.

What the Boombox 3 costs now

The Boombox 3 launched at a US list price of $499.95. Since the Boombox 4 arrived in late 2025, the older model has been discounted heavily:

• Amazon sold it at $299.95 on Mar 15, 2026, about 40% below list, according to a Slickdeals deal post. That deal has since expired.
• A price tracker snapshot from April 2026 showed Best Buy at $299.95.
• Earlier Best Buy sales took it to $399.99 and $349.99.

So a fair new price for a Boombox 3 in late 2026 is about $300. Paying close to the old $499.95 list makes little sense when the newer model costs $549.95 and goes on sale too.

Boombox 3 vs Boombox 4 on paper

The Boombox 4 page lists two woofers, two tweeters and three passive radiators, a 99.02 Wh battery and a 3-hour charge time. The Boombox 3 figures come from retailer spec sheets and Tom's Guide's review, which lists the weight at about 14.7 pounds.

If you plan to pair it with other JBL speakers, check compatibility first: the Boombox 4 uses Auracast, and older JBL speakers use different multi-speaker systems.

When JBL discounts the Boombox

JBL runs its biggest speaker discounts around US holidays. The sales calendar on the PickedBox JBL page, based on past years:

• Presidents' Day (February): up to 60% off headphones and Bluetooth speakers.
• Memorial Day (late May): up to $50 off select portable speakers.
• Father's Day (June): up to 60% off a selection of audio products.
• Labor Day and end of summer: up to 40% off speakers, soundbars and headphones.
• Halloween (October): up to 40% off Bluetooth speakers, headphones and earbuds.
• Black Friday and Cyber Monday (late November): sitewide price cuts on speakers.

These are category ceilings, not promises for one model. A flagship like the Boombox 4 usually gets a smaller cut than older or slower-selling speakers. JBL also keeps a standing sale section on jbl.com. Because coupon trackers report that JBL does not offer price adjustments after purchase, buying just before a known sale window can cost more.

Refurbished Boombox options

JBL sells refurbished speakers directly in a refurbished section of jbl.com. On Oct 18, 2026, it listed a Boombox 4 Refurbished at $412.46, about 25% below the new price, but that listing showed as sold out. No refurbished Boombox 3 was listed. Stock in this section comes and goes, so it is worth checking more than once.

Elsewhere:

• eBay: a seller-refurbished Boombox 3 in Very Good condition with a one-year warranty was listed at $243, out of stock when seen. Listing dates were not shown.
• Walmart Marketplace: third-party restored Boombox 3 units appeared at $309.95 and $319.95, which is no better than the 2026 new sale price.
• Best Buy: open-box units carry a condition grade and fall under Best Buy's own return terms.

With refurbished units, the warranty and return window matter more than the last $20. Read who provides the warranty, JBL or the seller, and for how long.

How we checked this

On Oct 18, 2026, PickedBox read the JBL Boombox 4 page for price, playtime, IP rating and specifications, the JBL refurbished speakers section for the Boombox 4 Refurbished price and stock, and the former Boombox 3 address on jbl.com, which returned an error page. jbl.com blocks direct requests, so the pages were read through a text reader. Boombox 3 sale prices come from a Slickdeals deal post and price tracker results; refurbished Boombox 3 prices on eBay and Walmart come from search results. Sales calendar, shipping and return terms match the PickedBox JBL store page. No speakers were bought or used for this guide.
