Best waterproof Bluetooth speakers in 2026: 5 picks and prices

For most people the best waterproof Bluetooth speaker in October 2026 is the JBL Flip 7, rated IP68 and on sale for $119.95 at jbl.com, or the JBL Charge 6 at $149.95 for longer playtime. Soundcore's Boom 3i, Bose's SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen) and the UE Wonderboom 4 are the strongest alternatives, and all five carry a rating for full submersion.

The five waterproof speakers and their prices at a glance

Prices below were seen on each brand's own US site on Oct 18, 2026, except where the brand site could not be read. Ratings and playtime are the maker's figures, not measurements by PickedBox.

The list leans on brands with long track records for rugged speakers and clear published ratings. The cheapest price for each one is often at a large retailer rather than the brand site, which the last section covers.

What IP67, IP68 and IPX7 mean for a pool or beach speaker

The IP code is the number to check before anything else. The first digit is dust protection (6 is dust-tight) and the second is water protection.

  • IP67: dust-tight and rated for submersion in 1 meter (3.3 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes. JBL's Clip 5 page uses exactly this definition.
  • IP68: dust-tight and rated for deeper or longer submersion, as set by the maker. JBL says its IP68 figure for the Flip 7 and Charge 6 is based on lab tests in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes.
  • IPX7: the same water rating as IP67, but the X means no dust rating was given. Several Soundcore models, including the Boom 2, are rated IPX7.

Two cautions from the makers themselves. Bose says the SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen) floats but is not designed to be used while in water, and that it should be rinsed with fresh water after contact with salt or chlorinated water. JBL's ratings are for fresh water. A speaker that floats is easier to recover from a pool, but floating is not the same as being built to play in the water. The one exception on this list is the Soundcore Boom 3i, which Soundcore describes as designed to keep playing while floating.

IP rating guide: a first digit of 6 means dust-tight, IP67 means 1 meter for up to 30 minutes, JBL IP68 tests use up to 1.5 meters, IPX7 has no dust rating.

JBL Flip 7 and Charge 6: the main picks

JBL Flip 7

The JBL Flip 7 was $119.95 on jbl.com on Oct 18, 2026, marked down 20% from $149.95. A personalized version was $154.95. JBL lists an IP68 rating, a 1-meter drop rating onto concrete, up to 14 hours of playtime plus about 2 more with Playtime Boost, and Auracast for linking with other Auracast JBL speakers. It is the size of a large water bottle, which is the main reason it suits a beach bag or a kayak.

JBL Charge 6

The JBL Charge 6 was $149.95 on jbl.com, down 25% from $199.95, with a personalized version at $185.95. JBL lists IP68, the same 1-meter drop rating, up to 24 hours of playtime plus up to 4 with Playtime Boost, a built-in power bank for charging a phone, and a fast charge of 10 minutes for up to 150 minutes of play. It is larger and heavier than the Flip 7.

Who they are for: the Flip 7 for most people who want one rugged speaker to carry around, and the Charge 6 for camping or long days where the speaker also has to top up a phone. For the smallest JBL option, the JBL Clip 5 was $59.95 (list $79.95), with IP67, a built-in carabiner and up to 12 hours plus 3 with Playtime Boost.

Soundcore Boom 3i: the pick for use in the water

The Soundcore Boom 3i was $129.99 on Soundcore's US site on Oct 18, 2026, with a two-pack at $259.98. Soundcore, Anker's audio brand, lists an IP68 rating, a 1-meter drop rating, 50W of output, up to 16 hours of playtime and resistance to salt water. Its main feature is floating playback: Soundcore says it stays upright and keeps playing while it floats, which is aimed at pools, boats and kayaks.

The Soundcore Boom 2 is the louder, larger alternative at $139.99 on the same site, rated IPX7, floatable and up to 24 hours of playtime. It drops more often at Amazon than on Soundcore's own store: a Technobezz deal report listed it at $89.99 on Amazon in a deal that ended Sep 5, 2026. Soundcore also listed a refurbished Boom 2 at $84.99.

Who it is for: someone who wants the speaker in the pool or on a paddleboard, not just next to it.

Bose SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen): the small premium pick

The Bose SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen) was $159.00 on bose.com on Oct 18, 2026. Bose lists an IP67 rating, up to 12 hours of battery life and a 4-hour charge time, and its product FAQ confirms that it floats. Bose's site showed free standard shipping on orders of $49 or more.

It is the most expensive speaker here for its size, and it is often cheaper elsewhere. Deal coverage from Gizmodo and PhoneArena has reported it at about $119 and at times just under $100 on Amazon, though those articles do not give firm dates and the deals have since ended.

Who it is for: someone who wants a small, light speaker for a bag or a shower caddy and prefers Bose's tuning and app, and who is willing to wait for a sale.

UE Wonderboom 4: the budget pick that floats

The Wonderboom 4 from Ultimate Ears, part of Logitech, has a list price of $99.99. The Ultimate Ears website did not load when checked, so the figures here come from retailers. Retailer listings describe an IP67 rating, a floating design, a drop rating of 1.5 meters (5 feet) and up to 14 hours of playtime, though one listing gives 12 hours.

It is rarely sold at list. A Best Buy listing in search results showed $79.99 for two colors, and a Slickdeals post dated Aug 25, 2026 listed the blue version at $51.44 on Amazon. Prices vary by color, so check more than one color before buying.

Who it is for: anyone who wants a tough, floating speaker for under $80 and does not need a power bank or the longest battery.

Bar chart of rated playtime: Bose SoundLink Flex 12 hours, JBL Flip 7 14, UE Wonderboom 4 14, Soundcore Boom 3i 16 and JBL Charge 6 24 hours.

What happened to the speakers on the 2020 list

The earlier version of this post listed five speakers. Their status in October 2026:

  • JBL Flip 4: replaced. JBL has since released the Flip 5, Flip 6 and Flip 7. The Flip 6 page on jbl.com returned an error page when checked, and the Flip 7 is the current model.
  • JBL Charge 3: replaced. The Charge 6 is current, and jbl.com's refurbished section listed a Charge 5 Refurbished at $139.95, which is close to the new Charge 6 sale price.
  • APIE and Vtin waterproof speakers: dropped. These were low-cost marketplace brands without official US product pages or published IP test details that PickedBox could find.
  • OontZ Angle 3: dropped. Its current model and price were not confirmed when checked, so it is not included here.

How to pay less for a JBL or other waterproof speaker

  • JBL's own sales: the October discounts seen on jbl.com fit JBL's usual Halloween sale, which the PickedBox JBL sales calendar lists at up to 40% off Bluetooth speakers. Black Friday and Cyber Monday in late November bring sitewide price cuts, and Presidents' Day and Father's Day sales have reached up to 60% off select audio products in past years.
  • Codes at jbl.com: JBL accepts one promo code per order, and codes usually do not combine with other promotions. New releases and pre-orders are often excluded. PickedBox lists eight active JBL codes on the JBL coupon page, with the terms for each.
  • Email sign-up: signing up for JBL news on jbl.com sends a discount offer by email; coupon sites report $10 off a first order of $150 or more.
  • Shipping and price changes: standard shipping on jbl.com is free to the 48 contiguous states with no minimum. Coupon trackers report that JBL does not refund the difference if a price drops after purchase, so buying just before a known sale can cost more.
  • Retailers: Amazon and Best Buy often undercut brand prices on all five speakers. Search waterproof Bluetooth speakers on Amazon and check the Amazon coupon page. Best Buy's Price Match Guarantee covers identical items from qualified competitors, and its offers are on the Best Buy coupon page.

A simple rule: if one of these speakers is at or near its list price, wait. Most of them have shown up 20% or more below list in 2026 deal reports.

How we checked this

On Oct 18, 2026, PickedBox read the JBL Flip 7, Charge 6 and Clip 5 pages and the JBL refurbished section for prices, IP ratings and playtime. jbl.com blocks direct requests, so its pages were read through a text reader. Soundcore prices and specifications come from the product listings on Soundcore's US store, and the Bose price, rating and float answer from the Bose product page. The Ultimate Ears site did not load, so Wonderboom 4 details come from retailer listings and a Slickdeals deal post. Amazon prices come from dated deal reports, not live Amazon pages. JBL sales, shipping and code terms match the PickedBox JBL store page. No speakers were bought or used for this guide.
